The Week of September 29 Week 5
English 11
This week the students will be reading two short stories, which are due Monday and Wednesday. Then we will be almost done with our Indian Unit. We will watch a movie related to events we’ve read about and prepare to write our first critical lens essay. We are preparing for our first regents essay and also adhering to the CCCS with complex and non-fiction texts.
English 12
This week we will be reading and discussing short stories in preparation for The Great Gatsby. Monday. This week we are reading “Winter Dreams," due Monday and Tuesday, and "Babylon Revisited,” due Wednesday and Thursday. Then we will prepare for our first essay and test. We are also adhering to the CCCS with complex and non-fiction texts.
Creative Writing
This week we will focus on point of view and humor. We will be doing journal entries and sharing what we write. All of this writing will help with the short story!
Other Items
Encourage your students to read, do their homework, and manage their time in regards to school, extra-curricular activities, and home.
Also encourage your students to stay up-to-date on current events and discuss current events with them. This practice increases their overall literacy.
I am available almost every day after school unless I have a faculty meeting or appointment.
